Soft baked oats with pear, Greek yoghurt, almonds and warming cinnamon.

Oats and pear provide dietary fibre, while almonds add fibre and unsaturated fats. Greek yoghurt contributes protein and may provide live cultures when a variety containing them is chosen.

Baked Pear & Almond Breakfast Oats

Method

  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. 2 In a small baking dish, mix the oats, cinnamon and baking powder until evenly combined.
  3. 3 In a separate bowl, whisk together the yoghurt, milk, egg and vanilla until smooth.
  4. 4 Pour the wet mixture over the oats and stir gently until just combined.
  5. 5 Arrange the pear slices over the top in an even layer and scatter over the flaked almonds.
  6. 6 Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden on top and set in the centre, with no wobble when the dish is gently shaken.
  7. 7 Allow to cool for a few minutes — it firms up slightly as it sits — before serving warm.
