Non-repayable, non-means-tested funding for study-related costs caused by a disability or long-term health condition, up to £27,783/year
Cost: Free; you pay the first £200 towards a computer if one is recommended
What you get
Funding for specialist equipment, non-medical helpers (e.g. a note-taker), taxi travel to your course or placement if public transport isn't possible because of your condition, and other disability-related study costs. It doesn't cover costs unrelated to your course, or things any student would need to pay for anyway.
Who qualifies
Higher or further education students with a mental-health condition, long-term illness or disability whose needs are confirmed at a needs assessment; not means-tested and does not need to be paid back. Support is agreed after an eligibility letter, an assessment (in person or remote) with a DSA-approved assessor, and a report setting out what's approved.
